1. Gita Gopinath:

The first Indian woman to get the position of Chief Economist at IMF – the International Monetary Fund is Gita Gopinath, and she is also a Harvard economist. Originally she hails from Kerala, and her father is a farmer-entrepreneur. She is John Zwaanstra, Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard diversity. Also, at the National Bureau of Economic Research,  she is the co-director of the International Finance and Macroeconomics program. For the IMF, her exceptional skills and vast experience are just the cherries on the cake. Gopinath is an excellent economist and a great leader, as per IMF Chief Christine Lagarde.

2. Indra Nooyi:

When Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi became the Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of PepsiCo, she carved her name in international business annals. She is ranked on the list of Famous women in India as she is ranked at number eleven on Forbes’ list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women in 2017. In the same year, she is ranked second on the list of Most Powerful Women by Fortune for the same year. Over the past decade, she has governed the organization’s international planning, having joined PepsiCo in 1994.

3. Arundhati Roy:

For the debut novel, The God of Small Things, Arundhati Roy is the winner of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 1997. And throughout her life, she has donned several hats. Additionally, she has written screenplays for a couple of Indian short films after studying Architecture. She received critical responses for her reaction to controversial causes as she took to social activism. Arundhati has a loyal fan following despite disputes.

4. Mary Kom:

Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte, also known as Mary Kom and she is the woman who lurched into the international boxing scenario from a  village located in the depths of North East India. She has won the five-time winner of the World Amateur Boxing Championship as an Olympic participant. Additionally, she is also the only woman boxer to bag a medal in each of the six world competitions. Above all, she made her way to become a world champion through hard work and determination even though she hails from a low-income family. After a break from marriage and motherhood, she has returned to professional boxing.

5. Seema Rao:

Seema Rao is the first woman commando trainer, and the pretty lady truly deserves to be on the list of Famous women in India. Besides being a professional medical doctor, she also possesses an MBA in crisis management. She has trained at least  15,000 soldiers in close quarter battle in partnership with her husband, Major Deepak Rao. Above all, she is also the woman trained in Jeet Kune Do – a form of martial arts developed by Bruce Lee. Well, nothing is surprising to know that she is the wonder woman of India.

6. Irom Sharmila:

Irom Chanu Sharmila, also known as the ‘Iron Lady she has been a symbol of undeterred will. For 16 years, she went on a hunger strike, 16 years protesting against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act passed by the Indian government, which permits the Indian armed forces unregulated powers of action. Irom was on a hunger strike and renounce food and water due to the misuse of power by the army, which resulted in civilian massacres, and led to the longest hunger strike in the World.

7. Kiran Bedi:

When she was elected as the first woman to join the Indian Police Service, Kiran Bedi became a beacon of light for women across the nation. She was able to bring a plethora of reforms throughout her illustrious career spanning 35 years while being instrumental in mitigating the number of crimes against women. When she was appointed as a Policy Advisor to the Secretary-General of the UN in 2003, besides being a national sensation, she also went on to achieve international acclaim. In the public domain, Kiran Bedi has continued to be a livewire, being an audacious writer and dauntless social activist after taking up voluntary resignation.

8. Barkha Dutt:

A synonym for Barkha Dutt is fearless. She is quite prominent for her war reportage during the Kargil War between India and Pakistan in 1999. Barkha was one of the most famous faces of the news channel for 21 years, an emblematic figure of New Delhi Television Limited, also known as NDTV. Additionally, she has met with both appreciations as well as disapproval for her outspoken brand of journalism throughout her fantastic career. Still, she has always risen above it to remain a mark of strength.

9. Sushma Swaraj:

In Indian politics, Sushma Swaraj is one of the most powerful women in Indian politics and also one of the most famous women in India, and she has risen to the position of the Minister of External Affairs of the country. After Indira Gandhi, she is the only second woman to don the role. In the Supreme Court of India, she began as an advocate.
