On January 29, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC)  has launched its online bus booking services for the nation. In a recent interview, IRCTC stated that “IRCTC under the leadership of Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution is gradually moving towards firmly positioning itself as the first government ‘One Stop Shop Travel Portal.’

It further added, “In a recent development for providing a more holistic travel experience to the customers, IRCTC that is already in the business of online rail and flight tickets booking launched its online bus booking services that went live for the service of the nation on January 29, 2021,”.

As per the IRCTC statement, it has tied up with over 50,000 state road transport, and private bus operators comprise 22 states and three union territories to implement online bus booking services.

The salient feature of the bus booking service

  • As the information available on the IRCTC website, a passenger can book tickets up to 6 passengers in a single transaction.
  • Before booking the tickets, users can also check out the images of the buses
  • Passengers can book all State Road Transport Corporation buses, comprising GSRTC, UPSRTC, APSRTC, OSRTC, Kerala RTC, etc
  • Along with this, the customers will determine their pick-up and drop points and timings and ultimately book their journey at a reasonable price with the ongoing bank and e-wallet discounts.
  • This service integration over IRCTC Mobile-app is expected to be completed in March’s first week, letting the public book bus tickets through mobile.
