Three years ago, the cataclysmic outbreak of COVID-19 forced mankind to rethink its way of preserving human life. The magnitude of this chaos disrupted the business world, forcing people to stay indoors to be safe. Over time, the effects of this outbreak have subsided, but the potential for unforeseen crises is always looming. New and more powerful variants of COVID-19 are emerging, and without proper resources in place, the business world can look forward to another chaotic disruption. What businesses need is an integrated enterprise risk management software platform that can curtail the risk of infectious diseases and promote the overall health and wellness of employees, their families, and the organization.
Introducing Safely2Prosperity (S2P), the brainchild of a visionary and thought leader, Hon. John Norris, JD, MBA. The platform offers all the tools a company would need to prepare for and address another pandemic-level threat. For our entrancing edition, “Top 10 Visionary CEOs to Watch in 2023,” we connected with Haden Land, CEO of Safely2Prosperity, to get valuable insights about the visionary and how his innovation can help organizations become more vigilant in these tumultuous times.
THE SPARK TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Dr. Norris has spent years as a Principal Deputy Commissioner and COO of the US FDA and teaching risk management at Harvard University. During this stint, he found an unseen missing piece in the US, and worldwide regulatory puzzle. Even though existing prominent government or quasi-government agencies, the FDA and US Joint Commission, are influential and active in regulating health and healthcare products and institutions, they don’t delve deeper into the risk management of organizations to help them protect their employees, families, jobs, and business. Dr. Norris sought change. He believed an advanced safety program could ensure organized and effective risk management within the bowels of those enterprises.
This led to the birth of the global, ubiquitous safety program, Safely2Prosperity. The platform keeps employees, their families, and other stakeholders out of harm’s way, thereby significantly lowering the risks of productivity losses and regulatory and civil-suit liabilities. The platform is most effective during infectious outbreaks and is best for manufacturing companies, universities, and government agencies (including national security/defense agencies). Dr. Norris envisions this platform to foster reform of critical infrastructure, whether it’s a business or nation, which will ultimately help them create disease-free sanctuaries both at work and at home. “Such advanced preparedness, response, and sophisticated ongoing risk management is what S2P is all about,” Haden exclaims.
THE PLATFORM
While S2P is a risk management platform, it is a notch above its peers. The platform is a result of extensive R&D efforts and innovations that interface with information technology. It is more than just an IDMS. Far more. It encompasses significant protective measures, including a safety standard, a community portal, educational pathways, and an excellent knowledge base. It’s a unique SaaS platform and multi-dashboard paired with customized vaccination packages, therapeutics, testing, and tracking technology. The team has also developed a robust mobile version to make accessibility more flexible. Haden says of it, “Our team has worked hard to make sure that our mobile client version has enough capacity to give managers and employees the right access to all the necessary tools they need to do tasks and to get information about themselves, their company, or both.“
In its short period in the market, the platform has proven to be a highly effective asset for businesses. With a focus on standing out and promoting health and wellness, S2P has launched its English language customer beta and value stream mapping programs in the U.S. and India. In doing so, it has plans to help many businesses optimize their existing capabilities. For instance, S2P is working with overseas education firm Global Tree, located in Telangana, India, and Capitol Technology University, located in Laurel, Maryland, on system operational enhancement and optimization. S2P is planning for the launch of a Japanese, Korean and Hispanic language versions during 2H2023. Any company can also choose to outsource its infectious disease spread risk management to S2P and become better prepared to respond to biological (and soon, chemical) threats.
AN EXEMPLARY INNOVATION
Since the pandemic, the world’s healthcare system has experienced a rise in digitization, the need for preventative care solutions, the number of innovative startups, a growth in strategic alliances, and financing boosts, all fueling market expansion. This ultimately increases healthcare providers’ ability to change the way their products and services are “actually” purchased and provided. While others are concentrating on finding solutions to the problems brought upon by the pandemic, savvy companies like S2P are giving more attention to interoperability, cloud-based platforms, mobility, data intelligence, and other emerging technologies. “We are also expanding beyond infectious disease risk management by investing in health and wellness, community portals, and the development of a pandemic/preparedness safety standard,” explains Mr. Land.
As a CEO, Mr. Land is leveraging his previous R&D responsibilities for a $10 billion company. As such, he values the importance of innovation and how it fosters growth. Large companies spend considerable time on market surveys to study the market for high-value solutions. At different stages of product development, they balance their R&D investments with other requirements like infrastructure, processes, and people. In doing the same, S2P is moving forward with a “make, not break” method. S2P also collaborates with its development partner, DICORP, to optimize its products and field community engagement solutions for its growing client base.
THE MAN GUIDING THE INNOVATIONS
While S2P is loaded with state-of-the-art innovations, becoming a buzz in a competitive market boils down to the collaborative efforts of its leaders and associates. In particular, Haden’s efforts have helped S2P earn its ever-increasing reputation for excellence and difference-making. He has spent most of his career as a problem solver across regions, whether technology/ engineering implementation, research/ development innovation, or management/ leadership excellence. During this stint, he developed a keen sense of risk management assessment from both a profitability and an impact on enterprises and their people standpoint to effectively mitigate challenges with the help of his team.
This ability has proved very helpful in S2P’s progress. When Mr. Land became CEO, S2P lacked an effective sales enablement plan to effectively target, qualify, convince, and close opportunities. There was also limited marketing collateral that effectively stated S2P’s value proposition. Haden and his team have introduced a robust CRM system to address these issues. “We have also initiated a series of market surveys to ensure we are focusing on the ideal client types and establishing a well-defined addressable market,” he adds. With Haden’s leadership, S2P also leverages advertising campaigns that stress S2P’s innovative abilities to help S2P to retain a competitive edge.
Putting it simply, Haden’s leadership embodies high integrity between him and his team. He fosters accountability, underlined by passion and care. His efforts have earned the company the title of “Top Healthcare Risk Management Service Provider for 2023” and “Most Trusted Infectious Disease Management Solution Provider – 2023” by media outlets. His value-driven leadership has helped S2P thrive as an ecosystem that embodies accountability, productivity, integrity, ethics, compassion, passion, and bi-directional trust.
A PASSION TO KEEP WINNING
Although it’s only been around for a few years, S2P has earned a niche for its innovation. It has also made recent internal breakthroughs, most of which are attributed to Haden. He was behind detailing the S2P technical architecture document, establishing impactful strategic partnerships, establishing core company processes, expanding solution offerings, enhancing advisory board expertise, launching robust advertisement campaigns, defining a robust culture, obtaining impressive industry recognition, and creating an end-to-end sales enablement model with an integrated CRM. And he accomplished all of this within months of being appointed CEO.
With so many milestones to be proud of, Haden looks forward to many successful years ahead for S2P. The global healthcare IT market size was approximately USD 140 billion in 2022 and is projected to exhibit a CAGR of nearly 18% from 2023 to 2030. As a leader, he envisions S2P at the forefront of this forecast, with a strong presence across both the private and public sectors. They are currently working in English-speaking nations but aim to flourish in others as well. “Within 5 years, I hope the S2P IDMS and our supporting offerings will establish the foundation to eventually become as ubiquitous worldwide as fire safety programs are today,” asserts Haden proudly.
A CLOSING NOTE FROM THE CEO
“It is not so much what you accomplish in life but rather more about how you go about doing it. Being successful is a rewarding feeling for you and your team, but knowing the success was achieved with integrity, accountability, trust, passion, and humility, makes it even more memorable.”
