CHALLENGES IN THE TRAJECTORY

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change.”

~Paulo Coelho

The recent business challenge for EQ India like others is COVID-19. During the pandemic it has been imperative to maintain an effective service delivery under difficult circumstances and this has meant opting for a different operating model based on working from home for the majority of employees. EQ India India was able to transition to the new Working from Home model within 24 hours. The other obstacles are the same that every entrepreneur faces in business, and he/she has to positively overcome all these challenges.

Every business has to align itself to the new working trends because the pandemic has brought a dynamic change in our working patterns. Amidst the crisis, it was a challenge to make sure staff are still delivering despite all their personal difficult situations. Sam Halford says, “It’s very important to remain positive no matter what big challenges are.”

Before pandemic making people redundant due to loss of businesses and how you deal with that positively where you try to ensure you give them other opportunities within the organization – So giving them consistent opportunity to train and develop was how we overcame the challenge. So, it’s always significant to encourage learning and development within the organization so that the staff can grow inside or outside of the organization.

My key strategy in L&D has always been: Train staff not just to see benefits within the organization but to future proof your staff’s life by enabling them even outside the organization.”

THE WORK CULTURE

“Our culture is friendly and intense, but if push comes to shove, we’ll settle for intense.”

~Jeff Bezos

It is imperative to take care of your employees’ growth and well-being for ensuring the company’s success. At EQ India India, people are given space and time to develop and grow while still delivering effective services.  If you don’t allow people to develop and don’t give opportunities, you will not be able to deliver the best possible service. Provide them career growth, mutual respect, and be empathetic towards their needs. For creating a cool environment, it is important to have fun at times of work. Be always ready to hear the staff and welcome an Open-door policy – where no one needs to get permission or appointment to meet the Managing Directors or any leaders in the organization.  The Managing Director says, “I am not obsessed with the job title that I have – What I believe is being a Managing Director is only as good as how you work with your fellow colleagues and staff.”

ONE WHO INSPIRES

“Great things never come from Comfort Zones.”

Inspiring words of someone can act as a catalyst for doing great things in life. The story of Sam Halford proves that.

Years back, when Sam was working with the UK government, there was an elderly gentleman – Senior Finance professional, John Armstrong, who had recognized the abilities in him to excel in career and gave him every sort of encouragement. He told him, “Never get frightened to tackle things that you don’t understand and Never stop learning; Never turn down a challenge – it’s an opportunity.” His words moved Sam and created the base of enthusiasm, his commitment to learning and development & business management. He always advised Sam to face the challenges as they come in life and work through them. You have to be brave enough to challenge your fears and overcome them.

Sam embarked on his career’s journey by exploring various business verticals, which gave him the enriching experience for business and people management.  He has worked in IT, Operations, Finance, Pharmaceuticals, Banking, etc.

STRENGTHS AND GOALS

The biggest strength of EQ India is to maintain sustainability in all types of challenging circumstances that exist today. They have not lost a single Client, and are still maximising the Client base during these 18 months of lockdown. Isn’t it something to cherish?

The goal that the entrepreneur has for EQ India is to keep growing and ensure that they have an employee base that is continually developing and maximizing skills levels for the upcoming years in terms of technology change. Learning, Development & Succession planning are the prominent factors in the modern environment.

To facilitate the achievement of goals it is imperative to apply positive leadership to ensure that there are clear objectives in terms of the way-forward for the EQ India as a business and also to ensure that everyone is aware of the objectives and strategies of the organisation

He says,

“I am proud that I have been able to persuade staff to work with me in a positive manner and have proven great respect in working relationships – This is fundamental to me because it is key to maximise flexibility in a  varied business environment, and also to deliver the best opportunities for employees.

There is no point in saying that I am a single point of success – because we are a team. I set the strategy and objectives for the delivery model but it’s my team who provide the support to actually ensure great performance and quality of that service to our Client base.”

BOOSTING CREATIVITY

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use it, the more you have.”

~Maya Angelou

Without Creativity, everything becomes monotonous and dead. Be it work or any activity, a tinch of creativity and innovation can transform the processes, and make them more interesting.

On the same notion, Sam Halford encourages positive thinking in the organization. He encourages people who want to grow their skills and are always willing to take up the opportunities that challenge their critical thinking ability.
